Deuce Brand is proud to honor the legacy of Nick Herrmann with the launch of the Deuce x Fight Like Nick Shorts — a limited-edition release created to inspire, empower, and give back.

Nick Herrmann was more than an incredible basketball player — he was a force of nature. Charismatic, driven, and kind, Nick left a lasting impact on everyone he met. In 2018, at just 16 years old, Nick was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer in his left leg. He endured over 70 days in the hospital and underwent surgery to remove six inches of his fibula — but through it all, he never lost hope.

With unmatched faith and work ethic, Nick fought his way back. He made a miraculous return to the court for his senior year at Torrey Pines High School, leading his team to an undefeated season. In the CIF San Diego Section Championship game, Nick delivered a performance for the ages — scoring 30 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter — and then cemented his legacy by sinking a near half-court buzzer beater to win it all. That shot, and the strength behind it, made Nick a local legend.

Nick went on to earn a scholarship to play at Cal State Northridge, fulfilling a dream he had fought so hard for. But in a heartbreaking twist, his cancer returned. Nick chose to keep this battle private, wanting to be remembered as the young man who beat cancer and defied the odds. He passed away on August 6, 2022, but his spirit continues to inspire the San Diego basketball community and beyond.

This collaboration is deeply personal — it’s about honoring a local hero, supporting families impacted by cancer, and helping to fund life-saving research that starts right here in our backyard.

With the launch of the Deuce x Fight Like Nick Shorts, we are proud to support Curebound and the Herrmann Hooper's, with 100% of proceeds going directly to cancer research at San Diego’s top medical institutions — including Rady Children’s Hospital, where Nick received his treatment.

This drop is more than a product — it’s a promise. A promise to use our platform for purpose, and to continue investing in the community that inspires us daily.
