Year 1. First Stop. Dallas

Inside the Launch of the Uncle Drew Circuit in Dallas

The Uncle Drew Circuit officially launched its first stop — bringing together players, families, coaches, partners, and communities from across the country for what became far more than a basketball tournament.

From the beginning, the vision behind the Uncle Drew Circuit was never simply to organize games. Competition remained at the center of the experience, but the intention was always bigger than basketball itself. The goal was to create a full-spectrum grassroots basketball environment where young athletes could compete, learn, recover, connect, and feel inspired.

What took place in Dallas felt different.

Across the entire weekend, the event integrated skill development, recovery stations, education sessions, entertainment, community activations, and off-court experiences into one cohesive atmosphere. Every detail was designed with intention — not only for the athletes, but for the families and communities surrounding them.

More Than a Tournament

For many players, this became one of the first times they experienced basketball in this way.

The courts were filled with high-level competition throughout the weekend, but outside of the games, athletes were able to engage with multiple areas designed to support their growth both on and off the floor.

The Uncle Drew Circuit featured:

- Skill Sessions

- Education Sessions

- Recovery Stations

- Pre-Game Activation Areas

- Gaming & Community Spaces

- Grooming Activations

- Hoop Bus Challenges

- Sports Library & Learning Areas

- Family & Food Spaces

The intention behind these activations was simple: create an environment where young athletes feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Because basketball culture has always been bigger than the scoreboard.

The Merchandise Went Crazy!

The energy at the Uncle Drew Circuit presented by Kyrie Irving was unmatched, and a massive shoutout goes to the powerhouse brands that showed up in a major way. Deuce Brand and Anta completely took care of the culture, gifting every single player and coach with premium merchandise, custom uniforms, and elite footwear. The players were absolutely loving the gear, and everyone on the court was visibly impressed by the exceptional, top-tier quality of both brands. From Deuce Brand holding down the apparel and uniforms to Anta turning heads with the legendary KAI footwear, these brands stepped up to fuel the circuit from top to bottom.

Learning From The Best

One of the most impactful aspects of the weekend was the direct presence of Kyrie Irving and his team throughout the entire event.

Kyrie remained actively engaged with players, families, and coaches across all three days — watching games courtside, speaking with athletes, live-streaming from the venue, and helping shape the energy surrounding the event. Alongside him, Phil Handy and additional members of Kyrie’s extended basketball circle led skill sessions and conversations focused on player development.

Athletes had the opportunity to learn directly from some of the highest-level basketball minds in the game.

The sessions focused on:

- Ball handling

- Footwork

- Shooting mechanics

- Finishing

- Pick-and-roll reads

- Pace & decision-making

But beyond basketball skills, players were also exposed to conversations around:

- Mindset

- Discipline

- Recovery

- Nutrition

- Mental preparation

- Life beyond basketball

The message throughout the weekend remained consistent:

The goal is not only to build better players — but better people.

The Environment Became The Story

While the competition delivered high-level basketball, coaches and programs consistently pointed to something else when reflecting on the weekend: the environment.

Again and again, the feedback focused on the energy, organization, positivity, and overall feeling surrounding the event.

Families described the experience as intentional.

Coaches highlighted the professionalism and attention to detail.

Players spoke about the excitement of receiving their full gear packages, connecting with other athletes, and feeling part of something bigger.

That feeling became one of the defining characteristics of the first stop of the Uncle Drew Circuit.

A major part of that came from the continued presence of Kyrie Irving and Phil Handy throughout the weekend. Their willingness to remain connected to the players and the community reinforced the authenticity behind the event itself.

Nothing felt distant.

Nothing felt transactional.

It felt personal.

Built For The Next Generation

The Uncle Drew Circuit was ultimately created for the next generation of hoopers.

For the young athletes chasing dreams.

For the families investing time and sacrifice.

For the communities that continue to build the culture of basketball every single day.

Year 1 in Dallas became proof that grassroots basketball can evolve into something more intentional, more connected, and more meaningful without losing the competitive edge that makes the game special.

The mission has always been simple:

Influence the culture.

And after the first stop in Dallas, it’s clear that the journey is only beginning.

See you in Vegas, youngblood. 🏀
